Cheryl Fong's battles in life didn't begin with the onset of Motor Neurone Disease. Cheryl Fong was born in Wonthaggi in 1946. She moved to Darwin in 1964 to study nursing where she eventually married David Fong in 1972. She survived cyclone Tracy in 1974, and after her marriage breakdown, she moved to Canberra in 1980 where she joined the Australian Public Service. Cheryl met her husband Clive in 1986 and raised a blended family of five children. She was appointed to a diplomatic post in Guangzhou, China in 1999. Cheryl moved to Narooma in 2002 and was diagnosed with motor Neurone Disease in 2011 and passed away September 2013.
